i don’t think artists are necessarily out to provoke negative feelings. mostly, any feeling will do, as long as it’s a feeling. art is a way of offering to people, “this is how i feel, do you feel the same way?” whether that’s a positive or negative feeling is between you and the artist. but there has to be a conversation that occurs, otherwise it’s not art.
